Make sure your TV is 4k enabled and your broadband is man enough to cope with all that data. Netflix are testing out ultra HD content in preparation for hopefully launching full length content next year.
Netflix have added a number of test videos that can be streamed in 4K HD, in readiness for the full blown launch of ultra high definition content that the company say they, “hope to launch next year.”
Ultra HD will be a big strain on bandwidth though, at 4 times the size of 1080p HD (3840 × 2160 pixels) and if Netflix can roll it out next year, they will be ahead of their target which was to get it launched by 2015.
4K streaming video will be demanded by consumers as the number of Ultra HD televisions being launched rises, and Netflix want to be at the forefront of the new technology. If you are one of the lucky ones then you can head over to Netflix and watch how good they look. Currently they have 6 test videos which can be viewed in Ultra HD resolution at 24 fps.
Netflix are already streaming in the lower format, super HD and are joining other companies that are investing in the new format. Satellite company Sky TV are filming in 4k, Japan is trialling 4k, and the latest Sony Playstation 4 games console will support Ultra HD.
Netflix have said that they want to be, “one of the big suppliers of 4k next year,” and are already filming shows like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black in 4K high-definition.
