MTV Deny That Jersey Shore Is Washed Up

Producers of MTV reality TV series Jersey Shore are currently denying recent rumours that the show is on the decline, and that the cast is to be replaced at the end of the current series.

The show, which is set around the premise of following the party lifestyles of eight young Italian-Americans in New Jersey (USA), seems to have already lost one of its stars from their own accord, with reports suggesting that cast member Vinny Guadagnino stormed off the set after a row with one of his co-stars, claiming that he will not return.

The series, which has spawned two MTV remakes in England, is approaching its fifth season (currently filming), with the fourth series (which was filmed in Italy) due to premiere next month. But with some cast members getting ready to work on solo projects with the network, there are rumours that the cast could be freshened up to keep the show from ‘becoming stale’.

MTV deny such rumours, though, with a spokesman stating: “We love the present cast, and their summer adventures have just begun. We currently have no plans to recast the show.”

MTV also claim that they are not making an official statement over Vinny’s reported exit: “We don’t comment on series while they are in production. But viewers can be assured they will have answers when season five premieres.”

Sources suggest that the reason that Vinny has quit is down to not only his row with the un-named cast member, but also ‘homesickness’ and feeling ‘burned out’. The series will just continue regardless, but with the stars of the show reportedly getting paid more than ever before to party (after yet another pay rise from MTV to the cast for season five), why would anyone want to leave?
