Mobile Video From HBO Go Lacking Distributors

HBO, in a bid to keep subscribers have launched their HBO Go mobile streaming service. They are hoping to tackle cheap online competition from Hulu and Netflix. The problem is that they still have not signed up two of the big distribution channels.

HBO is only partially GO

Time Warner Cable and Cablevision still have not signed up, so the HBO Go and TV Everywhere system will suffer in major media markets such as New York and LA.

And without these markets, HBO can never compete with the ever growing Netflix and other streaming services.

The HBO Go system allows customers to watch HBO shows for free ‘anywhere’, so long as you subscribe to a participating service such as Comcast and Verizon. The service is available as an app on a range of mobile devices such as iPad, iPhone and Android phones.

  1. With lots of building in NYC offering a choice of Verizon (with HBO GO) or Time Warner Cable, it looks like the later is toast if they don’t offer HBO GO by like, yesterday.
