Millions more watching Internet TV on traditional TV
Research has shown that over 290 million homes worldwide are able to view internet TV and online video. The research compiled last year also showed that 28 million households also were able to view internet streams on their traditional TV by way of a connecting cable. The research carried out by IMS Research also found that by 2013, the number able to watch streams on TV will grow from 28 million to over 300 million.
Research author Shane Walker commented:- “We can expect more consumer electronics manufacturers to incorporate web video into their products during the first half of 2009. Recently we have seen the incorporation of online video into popular devices such as game consoles, the TiVo, Bluray players, and flat screen TV’s. In addition, several dedicated internet video settop boxes, like Roku and Vudu have recently become availableâ€.
The research shows that more and more people will watch TV via the internet in one form or another. Like the digital revolution, there is no way to stop the internet TV tide sweeping in.
