The major UK TV Broadcasters BBC, ITV and Channel 4 are planning to join forces in an online TV venture.

Major newspaper The Guardian confirms that the companies are planning to launch an on demand broadband TV service.

The newspaper was informed that the new project named ‘Project Kangaroo’ would do for broadband what Freeview has done for digital television.

The 3 companies all have their own on demand online TV websites. The BBC has the phenominally successful iPlayer, Channel 4 has its own service and ITV has its own catch up TV service too.

It is planned that the new broadband TV service would combine programs from all 3 broadcasting companies, so viewings have a full choice of internet TV from the same place.

The new service is expected to stream the TV straight to PC’s, but also with the option of delivering direct to viewers TV sets via freeview technology given competition to the big satellite/cable companies BT Vision, Sky and Virgin Media.
