Justin.tv App Comes To iPhone At Last
Justin.tv video streaming service is coming to iPhone. The live streaming and video website joins others video sites such as YouTube and Dailymotion on iPhone. Youtube has been available in Apple friendly format since forever, and more streaming video sites have announced plans to introduce iPhone apps soon – such as Hulu and Netflix.
The Justin.tv website makes heavy use of Adobe’s Flash player for its video content, which iPhone does not support. It may be that all these streaming sites becoming available, are just getting ready to jump onto the iPad at launch, but it makes lack of Flash not such a problem for users.
The Justin.tv app shows live content, along with user chat. The chat can be viewed alongside the video while it plays, however typing in your own messages to other channel viewers obstructs the video.
Other features of the app are:-
- Watch every live video
- High quality video over 3G and Wi-Fi
- Fully featured chat allows you to interact with broadcaster and viewers on iPhone and the web
- Simple and easy to navigate UI
- View and manage favorites
- Share any channel with friends
- Search
- Create account inside app
The app is easy to use, each channel from the Justin.tv website is available. Browsing videos online is simple and can be done by using the search option or looking through the featured channels. Videos can be viewed in both landscape or portrait orientations. Other features include being able to save channels as favorites and sharing them. Users can also register with Justin.tv within the app.
Coming soon will be live video broadcasting from the iPhone itself, as well as push notifications for upcoming programming. Users who subscribe to certain shows will be able to get free push notifications when that show begins and a link straight to the content.
Slowly the lack of a Flash player on both iPhone and iPad is becoming less relevant, at least for video and tv streaming, which is the major use for Flash on the internet and a negative point of the Apple devices. But maybe not for much longer.
