Is it a Wii or Zillion TV?
Yet another company has come up with a set top box showing internet tv streams. And with a remote like Nintendo’s Wii, presents another reason to start watching free ad-supported and on demand television straight from the net.

The new device by startup company with the impressive name ‘ZillionTV’ has started a new service to allow cable and satellite subscribers to cancel that monumental monthly bill and get all the free TV episodes and movies from the Internet staraight onto big screen TV.
So is this a splash in the pan or maybe something that’ll take off? Well the company may only be only days old but it has an impressive connections and has struck agreements with many big name companies. The companies include Disney, 20th Century Fox Television, NBC Universal, Sony Pictures, and Warner Bros. amongst others.
These same companies have also invested in the business so success seems assured. Other investors include Visa, set top chip manufacturer Sigma Designs.
So the deal is that you buy the settop box which looks quite snazzy by the way. Then stream movies and TV shows directly to your television set via your broadband connection. The box can connect to the net via wireless WiFi or using an Ethernet cable. Also unique is the remote control unit, which looks much like something out of Star Trek. The remote is also very similar to the Wii using motion sensing technology and has no numeric keys.
After making the initial purchase, the viewer could browse a selection of VOD titles, then view a number of preroll ads (interactive?) then view the streaming content. It is aiming to launch with 15,000 titles.
Other features include no subscriptions and a loyalty program, which will reward viewers for watching TV and interacting with advertising. These points could then be redeemed for material goods.
ZillionTV is expected to be available in the US in the fourth quarter 2009.
