iPad Has A Rival In HP Slate That can Play Flash Video Streams

Move over iPad, the HP Slate could give you a run for your money. Planned for launch this year, the device will give users what Apple cant, a full internet experience including flash player support. In fact HP are shouting from the rooftops that this tablet pc gives users all the things that iPad cannot.

The company PR says that “With this slate product, you’re getting a full Web browsing experience in the palm of your hand. No watered-down Internet, no sacrifices”. In a video released by HP, you can see the similarities with Apple’s product.

The much anticipated iPad due for an April launch, has no support for Adobe Flash. Apple owner,  Steve Jobs is not a fan and doesnt support the format on iPhone either. Unfortunately the software is used to run most online video, games and animation on the internet. Apple insist its too processor intensive and shortens battery life.

HP is hoping that this massive omission will be the iPads Achilles Heel, although the iPhone is all powerful even without supporting flash. Of course the iPhone never had the competition the the iPad will surely face when launched. The HP Slate looks very exciting, if they can keep a decent battery life and stop the thing heating up like an iron.

  1. This thing looks great, much slicker than the ipad. And thank you god (or HP) for including flash support. How does apple get by saying “their target users don’t care”. When half the sites on the net wont work.

  2. This thing is getting me excited, shame it looks like its just a mock-up. Based on the description, it can a lot that the Ipad. Lets give Jobs a bloody nose guys, anyone who deliberately deprives his users of Flash just because they want total control of revenue is an asshole.
