Iomega TV And Boxee 1080p HD Playback And 2TB Storage
Iomega have teamed up with Boxee to introduce a new digital home entertainment option that will debut at CES in Las Vegas.
The new device will be powered by an Intel CE4100 processor that will allow full HD 1080p playback, the Iomega TV with Boxee setup sports the obvious a Boxee media player for accessing Internet based content, but it also has an optional hard drive that will allow for the owner’s personal multimedia collection.
With a possibility of upto 2TB of hard drive space at one’s disposal, that could hold up to 500,000 songs, 800,000 photos, or 770 hours of video.
Using the devices built in 802.11n Wi-Fi, the Iomega TV also doubles as a DLNA server that will stream to any room in the house and also host a personal cloud to share files among Internet connected devices with approved access to the cloud.
Nothing is complete without some kind of social networking connection these days. So Iomega TV also connects to Facebook, Twitter, and Google Buzz for TV recommendations from friends.
All of this is operated by a remote control that sports a full QWERTY keyboard on one side and a touch mouse with play, pause, fast forward and rewind buttons controls on the reverse side.
Set to start shipping in February, pricing starts at $229.99 for the basic Iomega TV with Boxee system. For 1TB or 2TB of storage, the price is bumped up to $299.99 and $349.99 respectively.
The available options includes the QWERTY remote control, and an HDMI Cable, a power cable, side stand and quick start guide along with the Iomega TV box itself.
