ESPN Bring Pardon The Interruption To The UK

ESPN are set to bring their UK subscribers a British take on a popular American sports show, Pardon The Interruption, which is due to begin today.

The US version of the show, which has been running since 2001, has a basic format of the presenters (in America, currently Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon) discussing the latest news of sports both at home and worldwide, with many discussions turning to arguments, and often an strong and humorous set of opinions in a heated debate. Each topic is given a time limit to discuss before moving onto the next one on a highlighted list. After this follows three further segments, including an interview, a random segment, and a ‘shoutouts’ section at the end.

The British take on the show is set to closley follow the original format, but obviously with much more emphasis on the sporting matters that are in the news in the country, such as football, rugby, and cricket, amongst others, although like in America, no sport or story will be left out if it is good enough. The show will be hosted by presenters Mark Chapman and Steve Bunce, with the weekly programme making its debut on ESPN (UK) tonight. The British version is the 5th different country/region to screen the format, after USA, Mexico, Australia, and Brazil.

Below are two clips from the American version which display the type of discussions that can occur:
