Internet TV Has No Affect On Regular TV Viewing Figures
Everyone around here loves online tv, and the rest of the civilised world are catching on as online streaming grows in popularity. However, a new survey shows that although 40% of US households that are web connected, regulalry use a pc to watch tv, it is not having an impact on regular tv viewing just yet.
The study which was carried out by market researcher Parks Associates revealed that viewers go online for short fix video viewing, but only watch full length content when watching a normal tv is not an option. Kurt Scherf of Parks said:- “People are using online video to fill in the gaps. When it comes to watching TV shows and movies, nobody’s first choice is the computer. People will watch this content on a computer when it is not convenient or feasible to watch on a TV.”
The latest ComScore rankings show that the research may well be true, with around 84% of US internet tv watchers only viewing for an average time of 4.8 minutes. The reason many still prefer traditional tv is obviously out of habit. Plus, internet tv is still in the early stages with buffering and slow loading problems as well as most pc monitors being 19 inches and under.
However with the increase in internet enabled tv and improving technology, tablet pc’s showing tv streaming and a change of viewing habits. Dont expect
