Humax Update Now Adds BBC iPlayer To Their Freeview HD DVR
The set top box specialist Humax has this weekend begun adding its TV internet Portal interface to its HDR-Fox T2 Freeview HD DVR. The Humax TV Portal will initially provide access to BBC iPlayer, Flickr and Wiki@TV.
Humax said in a statement to explain the absence of Sky Player: “Humax is still in the process of completing Sky Player tests, but didn’t want to delay the launch of the Portal. Sky Player is expected to launch in a matter of weeks.”
Despite its name, the Portal also allows linking up to a host of internet radio stations. So just hook your box up to your broadband router using powerline ethernet adaptors, perhapsĀ and you’re ready to use the service, once it has been installed.
Are Rights negotiations to blame for the lack of Sky Player? It seems that the these could have hit a bit of a snag and Sky Player has been completely pulled from the portal for the time being, although Humax would not comment on whether rights clearance is the issue here.
Humax insists that Sky Player is expected to launch on the TV Portal within a matter of weeks, at which point the Portal will also be made available on Humax HD-FOX T2 set top boxes.
Humax has begun transmitting their DVR’s software update over the air.
