Vizio have revealed that they are the first Android tablet to carry an ‘app’ from Hulu Plus, the first time that the Google-owned device company have gone into partnership with the online video giant.

After being restricted from using Hulu and Netflix apps in the past, it seems as though the Hulu Plus service is making its way to Android’s collection of products, first being launched on the new 8 inch screen Vizio Tablet device.

After downloading the free app, and paying a premium subscription charge of $7.99 per month (or using an existing contract), Vizio Tablet owners can access a range of Hulu Plus content, with a selection of classic and up-to-date TV episodes and movies. Popular contracted shows on the service include Modern Family, Arrested Development, and Family Guy, amongst others. The makers of Vizio have claimed that by connecting the device to a TV or monitor (via an HDMI lead) the app will show the high-quality content on the larger screen for more people to enjoy.

The Vizio runs on an old 2.3 version of Android which has allowed Hulu to run their streaming TV service for the device. When newer Android tablets get the service is not yet known. Most Android streaming comes from either Netflix or Google.

With the Vizio Tablet (VTAB1008) currently on the market starting from $289.87 (on Amazon), Android are hoping to provide the latest development in online viewing technology with a number of improved features (such as processing and storage space) since their previous release. Will the Hulu Plus addition help them to draw in more viewers?
