Hulu Plus Drops Price, But Is It Enough?
Is Hulu becoming pay to view only?
The anticipated price cut of Hulu Plus has finally come, but is not as great as had been speculated. The subscription tv-on-demand service owned by NBC, Disney and Fox have revealed the cut of it’s monthly subscription to $7.99 from the original $9.99, which shows the takeup has not been as successful as they hoped.
The Hulu Plus service was met with plenty of criticism after launch, many complaining that the same content could be found on Netflix and that much of the content was available on the free Hulu service. In comparison with Netflix, Hulu Plus was also criticised for making paying subscribers sit through ad breaks, something that Netflix didn’t do.
Although Hulu was launched as a free service, it’s network bosses were not happy with the advertising revenue and called for a pay option. As this is now up and running, some predict it may be the death of Hulu for free. This could be a bad move though, as the free service is making the money at this time.
So will viewers be happy to fork out $8 per month to watch movies and shows that are already available on network and cable TV? Not as many as would at $5.
But it is still a good service, and you can now watch the streaming TV service on mobile devices including the Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod. With many more devices about to be supported, it may get a following. Time (and possibly another cut) will tell.

The main issue with Hulu plus is that it doesnt include most of the content on Hulu, of my 15 subscribed shows on Hulu, only 3 are available for viewing on the Hulu plus service, the rest I still have to watch on my laptop. For me, I am prepared to spend $8pm to watch Hulu on my TV but I need to see it all there. Maybe this will improve over coming months, in the mean time I am cancelling my Hulu plus subscription.
