We hear on the grapevine that negotiations between Hulu and Disney (ABC) will be concluded at any time. After our recent ABC TV coming to Hulu? post it appears that soon 3 out of the major 4 US networks will be showing on the one website and seal Hulu’s dominance in the online catch up TV market.

A deal with Disney will bring the top ABC TV shows such as Lost to the Hulu platform. Details of which over Disney assets will be viewable such as movies is however still a little blurry. It already appears that at this stage ESPN sports channel and even ABC News will not be appearing on Hulu.

However there are lots of politics involved and other big media companies such as CBS, Comcast and even Google are having discussions with Disney and advising against an exclusivity deal with Hulu.

CBS as an example have a online TV strategy that makes their video content available in many different places and getting advertising revenue all to themselves. This is why they are not so eager to give an exclusive deal to Hulu. This does not mean that CBS wont be appearing on Hulu anytime soon, but they will not be bending over too far and give their all.

Disney have of course recently tied up a Youtube deal (Hey Hulu, Disney is swinging toward Youtube) that will show shorts on the giant video site. By doing this they are telling Hulu that all options are still open for them to move elsewhere.
