HBO subscribers with iPhones, iPads, Android smartphones and tablets can now watch TV on the go. HBO have launched their The HBO Go service as a mobile app suitable for both Apple and Android devices. Now customers can watch streaming TV on the go via both WiFi and/or 3G connections.

The HBO Go app is available free of charge from the App Store and Android Market, and gives viewers access to a library of over 1,400 of HBO TV shows, movies and sports.The service was given a mekeover last month.

Users can access all the top shows including Entourage, True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, Sex and the City amongst others. The app also has original HBO content and bonus stuff including behind the scenes extras.

The app also includes the obligatory watchlist which is customizable for choosing movies and TV shows to watch later. Plus users can access a Series Pass, enabling personal lists.

The app is a long time coming as the HBO Go service was rolled out in early 2010 for subscribers of Comcast, DirecTV, AT&T amongst others. It is not cirrently working for unsupported providers, but HBO say that they are working on supporting more providers.

Viewers can watch catch up HBO content via the internet on their PC or Mac. Users simply login using their HBO TV subscription to login and get streaming.

The service is really only just becoming a GO service, a year after launching. The app is compatible with Apple’s iPhone 3GS and 4, and for Android OS 2.1 up to 2.3.3.
