Google TV Have More Content Partners But No Big TV Networks

Google TV looking for more content

In the run up to the Google TV launch across a range of hardware devices, more media companies are who will supply the content are being confirmed. But still missing are the big tv networks ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC.

Partners confirmed by Google imclude TNT, CNN, TBS and HBO. It will also offer NBA, CNBC and popular pay to view services from Amazon and Netflix. Tweeters will get Twitter and music websites Napster, Vevo and Pandora

So why the no show from the big four networks? It is speculated that the TV networks are not keen in giving more power to Google when it comes to online tv advertising. It may well be no big deal though, as viewers can still watch content from the big four using the actual tv rather than the web.

Google are also reportedly ‘in discussions’ with cable companies about a tie in with their platform. Already they have struck a deal with The Dish Network which will see Google TV at a knockdown price infiltrate the satellite companies 14.3 million subscribers. Any cable agreements would expand Google’s reach.

No cable deals have yet been announced, but it is thought googleis pushing hard. With the Google platform due to debut in Best Buy’s US stores later in the month, expect more content provider news daily.
