New Google TV 2.0 Beta Details Revealed
The new incarnation of Google’s connected TV platform, Google TV has been “coming” for some time now, but now specific details are becoming available giving an insight to the platform revamp.
The new Google TV 2.0 development kits have been despatched and Geek has taken a look at the new system. The Google 2.0 Beta will run off the modified Honeycomb android OS 3.1 allowing apps to be downloaded to the TV.
The development kit comes preloaded with the not so exciting Clock app, chrome browser (full version) and the Live TV function, which currently only receives a signal from the HDMI port.
The device now also includes extra ports including one for a coaxial cable. Meaning nin HD owners could use a Google TV box. Although anyone with Google TV would surely want to watch in HD anyway.
It also has a ”Dual View” allowing TV and apps, or several apps running at the same time. So multi-tasking, apps, complete web browsing. But it’s content that the system needs and the largest reason it failed.
Of course the competition has greatly increased since Google’s first Google TV release and they now will be facing competition from the uber cool sounding Apple connected TV.
Watch this space for more details as they come in.

Great article, but I think you’re wrong on the coax cable part, I don’t think it has anything to do with non-HD, but everything to do with over the air HDTV signals. HDTV antennas use coax to connect to TV’s, not HDMI.
I think you missed the point with the “The device now also includes extra ports”, Google TV is an operating system, not a single hardware box.
