Fios gets more content

Verizon’s Online TV service FiOS TV has done a deal with Time Warner to secure more streams to online and mobile phone customers. The deal made between the companies starting in June will allow FiOS TV customers to access unlimited online access to popular content from Time Warner’s Turner networks – TNT and TBS.

Chairman of Time Warner Inc. Jeff Bewkes said, “Verizon has been a great partner as we’ve explored new ways for their subscribers to access and interact with our popular networks.  TNT and TBS will now be available online to FiOS subscribers at no added cost.  In less than a year, we’ve been able to launch our vision of delivering TV Everywhere to nearly 20 million customers nationwide.”

FiOS TV supplies a range of content from over 565 digital channels, 140 in HD and 18,000 monthly video-on-demand videos.

Verizon is working with a number of content providers to test and make available soon to FiOS customers a significant amount of additional internet based content from a variety of providers, including FOX News, CBS, MTV Networks, Hallmark Channel, Smithsonian Channel, the Tennis Channel and more. These channels will join other online video services already available to FiOS customers. These services include Time Warner’s HBO, which launched HBO Go to FiOS customers in February.

  1. Who cares. Until the monopoly of Time Warner Cable begins to allow competition in North Carolina, I will never purchase their service. DSL is not a comparable service. Until that time, Time Warner Cable will continue to increase their fees while decreasing their service. Their sucky customer service, over in India, is clueless. I’ll continue to save my money.
