DVD Not Dead Yet As Netflix Launch New DVD Rental Service
Reports of the death of the DVD may be a little premature, as successfull streaming site Netflix have surprised everyone by launching a new unlimited DVD monthly rental plan.
Netflix has been steamrollering the competition for online streaming and have said themselves that the future is streaming and non-physical delivery of content. But a new $7.99 monthly dvd rental service shows there is life in the old dog yet.
Users can sign up and have a months free trial followed by monthly payments of $7.99 giving unlimited DVD’s by mail. Netflix still have other DVD rental plans but they limit the user to a measly 2 discs monthly.
Netflix seem to realise that some users are just not interested in streaming on a TV, PC or phone/tablet and are happy plonkling a DVD into the player as we all used to in the old days.
It seems a bit pointless to us, as the $10 monthly service gives the best of both worlds, but there you go. Although DVD sales are dropping while streaming and digital delivery takes over, DVD aint dead…just yet!
