World Wide Web is becoming the destination of choice for people wanting TV on demand and content to order services

With the massive increasing popularity of internet tv services, it leaves the broadcasters with one small problem, how to profit out of these online viewers.

“I think that the audience and the demand have been proven,” says Daisy Whitney, who covers online video and new media for TV Week. “What we’re seeing now is the maturing of the business.”

Online tv sites rely on a combination of funding from parent companies and investors as well as ever increasing advertising revenue. This year, Web videos are on track to nearly double the $775 million in ad revenue generated in 2007.

Because you are able to achieve much more online than from a set top box it will naturally draw it more viewers as it overtakes TV in terms of sophistication and ease of use.

If you have used the BBC’s Iplayer or any of the big networks online tv episode players you will realise how much easier and convenient watching online is becoming.

My problem now is what to do with that big lump of TV hardware sitting unused in my house.
