Comcast Not Looking To Shut Down Hulu

If the Comcast aquisition of NBCU completes they will not prevent users accessing Hulu and the deal will not affect cable prices. A report inĀ  Broadcast & Cable which has aquired a confidential presentation says that the cable giant is trying to sweettalk legislators and the FCC. The report in effect says that if Comcast gain approval for the buyout of NBCU from parent General Electric, it will not significantly alter the competitive landscape.

“Comcast does not and will not foreclose consumer access to any online Internet content for anticompetitive purposes.” That pledge and others come from Comcast in a document the company is using in meetings with legislators and the FCC about the deal to acquire a controlling stake in NBC Universal.

Of course, once the deal is done and Hulu is owned by Comcast, they are not discounting removing premium content or even turning it into a subscription based service.
