Comcast customers struggling to pay

comcast Comcast customers struggling to payComcast the largest cable TV company has revealed that it continues to see the economy slowing down which is affecting its business. Advertising and pay per view services are the main areas hit, and more customers are struggling to pay the monthly cable bill.

Dave Watson, executive vice president of operations has revealed that the cable TV giant are taking steps to relieve its customers suffering by offering a range of lower priced subscriptions.

He commented:- “We are getting a lot of telephone calls right now saying ‘This is a tough time, what can you do?’ ” he said. “These new economy packages will serve us well under these conditions.”

Comcast have introduced an economy package at below $30 a month giving access to 50 TV and Music channels and a lower priced Internet plan at DSL speeds.

Comcast has also been increasing its monitoring service, catching coming problems before it reaches its customers. He also revealed that its customer satisfaction ratings are rising, this is of course based on its own internal measurements so its hardly a surprise.

From 2009, Comcast’s technicians will also track customer appointments during the day using handheld devices. The company also is working on a feature that lets customers go online to find a technician’s whereabouts, avoiding a phone call into Comcast.

Also coming next year is the initial phase of its wireless service, which will most likely be high speed mobile Internet access instead of a cell phone.

“It’s important to protect your high speed data customers with a high speed data alternative. That’s why we’re in this deal,” Watson said.

Comcast are also planning to expand its TiVo service next year to more areas.

Of course you can cancel that horrendous monthly subscription and watch it all online.

  1. I just emailed the FCC today about the high cost of cable/net/phone from all the cable companies. I asked if some kind of law could be passed requiring these companies to offer a low income package. I don’t know if it will help, but I tried.

I’m just so sick of every time I call Comcast, I’m told that I’m on the cheapest package and if I get off the bundle, they will increase my bill instead of lowering it. I will check into their new Economy plan.

  2. I called Comcast Customer Support initially then eventually got transferred to their Sales Department. Their Economy bundle is non-existent. The LOWEST Internet price is $42.95. There was a promo offered @ $19.95 that has now expired. Dave Watson is a LIAR!
