Comcast Chief Expresses Concern About Cord Cutters
We have known for some time that in reality, internet tv is not much of a threat to the big cable companies, yet. But they know, just as we do. That as streaming gets faster and more readily available, and internet enabled devices flourish, the threat of cord cutters will become much bigger. CEO of Comcast, Brian Roberts speaking at the Cable Show, downplayed the internet tv threat, and promptly changed tact and said he was worried!
Comcast know what they are talking about, and are right to be worried.Comcast, along with the other cable companies have low consumer satisfaction rates and keep upping the subscription costs. When fed up viewers see they can have access to a cheap, easy on demand service that gives all that premium cable content minus the hassle and cost, cord cutting will turn into a tidal wave, but just not yet.
Meanwhile Comcast are fighting off the internet tv threat with their own online tv on demand concept, TV Everywhere available to subscribers only supplying a limited selection of paywalled TV content. Early reactions were somewhat mixed, but Roberts says there should be a new version of the platform within the next 3 months.
