MSG and Time Warner have been locked in a contract feud since New Year’s Day over the fees to carry the MSG channel and air these teams games on TV.

Regional broadcast licenses are a bit different with the NFL, due to the league’s blackout provision. To keep momentum, if a stadium doesn’t sell out within 72 hours of game day, the regional broadcasters cannot air the game.

The CD is on its way to become a relic, and kids born in 5-10 years time will see the CD the same way that teenagers see the vinyl records today. The CD has had an incredible run though. It has managed stand the test of time for decades, and even in the increasingly digital world, the CD has remained a storage medium of the media and music industry. But that medium may be on a slippery downwards slope.

Sony did have at one time three CD manufacturing plants in the US. Now they have two. And probably sooner than you think they will have one. You also has to wonder how long it will be before Sony has none in the US. In Pitman, NJ, workers at Sony’s CD manufacturing plant are bracing to deal with unemployment. CD sales are dropping a lot, and there’s just not enough demand to go around.

The company soon will be planning to shut down the facility, putting 300 employees out of work. According to a report at CNET, a spokesperson for the company “cited an ailing U.S. economy and sagging interest in physical media as the reasons for the closure.” And in fact, an employee of the planet said that “the CD is dying.”

One worker even admitted that his daughter is now using less CDs, despite the fact that her actions are playing a small role in the loss of her dad’s job. There’s no question that iTunes and piracy have helped to kill off the CD. iTunes now sells more music than Walmart in America, and it’s just far easier to download an MP3 than to go out and purchase a physical CD.

Also, the piracy culture that started way back during the Napster era has flourished, and now people have an even more difficult time swallowing the price of a CD. It’s not right, but even workers confess that it has played a role.

When is the CD going to die out completely? We think there’s still five to ten years of life left in it yet, educational sectors still rely heavily on the CD, and many PC game titles still ship on CDs.

Ted, who currently has over 11 million hits on a video of him made by the Columbus Dispatch, has been compared to Scottish singer Susan Boyle after the similarities (middle-aged, poor (Susan Boyle lived in a council-owned house), unassuming, vocal talent) with their respective rises to fame on YouTube. The video was first put on YouTube on Monday, and while the man himself has now cleaned up for a series of talk show appearances this week, offers for his future are already being tabled. It has been labelled as the first ‘feel-good’ story of 2011, but it will surely also be the most memorable week of Ted’s life, having began it offering to show off his ‘God-given’ radio voice in exchange for $1.

The first offer for Ted’s services has come from his local NBA basketball franchise, the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are offering a house, and a well-paid, full-time position as announcer for the ‘Cavs’ and their home venue, the Quicken Loans Arena, and the arena’s title sponsors, who are offering to pay the mortgage on the house. A joint-venture website from the Cavs and Quicken Loans has also been hastily set up, allowing fans to comment and persuade Ted to take the job. When told about the offer, he exclaimed: “That’s the best deal ever!”

It seems that any other suitors will have to step up their game for the chance to entice Williams’ services, with interested parties rumoured to include the NFL, NFL Films, ESPN, MTV, and a selection of local TV and radio stations, with many more big names tipped to step into the race at some point.

After he chooses a contract, his redemption will be complete, after the past decade saw him battle with drugs, alcohol, and criminal behaviour while trying to get his life back (although he claims to have been sober for the past 2 years). Further opportunities may also be present, as Hollywood producers may want him to sell his incredible story to the big screen at a later date.

TV Gorge Lets You Watch Hulu Shows

The website says that it uses searching and indexing techniques to detect and gather content from third-party TV streaming websites around the world. The company says that its proprietary script is capable of detecting the best source for TV shows and automatically compile the information for its database. Each video is said to be manually screened to make sure it is of high quality and working ok.

TVGorge adds that it does not effectively store video files on its own servers and only links to or embeds existing videos from a ‘variety of sources’. Listed at the bottom of the homepage are partners such as CBS’ TV.com, Hulu, TVGuide.com and TVDuck.

Looking at the site content cannot fail to impress though with all eight seasons of 24 areas well as episodes of top shows like Californication, 30 Rock, Heroes, Lost, CSI, Mad Men, Grey’s Anatomy, The Simpsons and many more.

In its T&C’s the website says it fully respects the intellectual property rights of third parties, you cannot help but wonder if it does have any agreement with Hulu, CBS and the other networks, so watch the streams while you can. It may not be around too long.

IMDb started out as a series of scripts which allowed you to search a lists of credits collected by a USENET group called “rec.arts.movies” in October 17th in 1990. In 1993 character names were added to the movie cast sections, biographies and plot summaries were added.IMDb now incorporates thousands of full length movies and TV shows, individual pages for characters, plot synopses. The sitye now receives over 57 million visitors every month.

By using the search function you can find a movie by the title, one of the actors or even a quote from the movie. You can then pull up actor biographies and see what other movies they have starred in.

Although it will never be a site you visit specifically to watch a movie or show, if you need some info or trivia about a movie or show. IMDb is always the first port of call.

Latest aggregator site to appear is clicker.com which has a comprehensive set of links and searches allowing you to watch pretty much anything online, free or pay to view.

Clicker is not competing with any free tv websites but is acting a comprehensive guide to them. Clicker indexes a selection of movies, tv shows, music videos. Some streams can be watched on Clicker but mostly you get redirected to the website carrying the streams

Testing has been completed during the last two months and now Clicker is available to the general public. Containing an index comprising 400,000 TV episodes, 50,000 music videos and around 30,000 movies that come from the Netflix or Amazon streaming stores.

Streaming from Netflix requires a subscription while Amazon.com sells or rents video downloads. Most of the other material in Clicker’s database is shown for free.

Although on the face of it, Clicker is just copying a myriad of other sites such as Yahoo and Bing, it is attempting to be different by adding social media elements and the addition of a forum allowing viewers to recommend shows to each other.

For revenue it is believed that Clicker will use advertising and collect commissions from the pay to view content.

The site is part of Clicker Media Inc., a Los Angeles startup that has raised $8 million from such investors as venture capital firms Benchmark Capital and Redpoint Ventures.

The new TV site Jaroo.com, which is your regular Hulu type site is targetted towards kids in the 4-12 year age range, and has a good selection of 22 minute long shows (mainly cartoon) supported by advertising.

The site has one of the biggest selections of free to view full-length kids tv series including Inspector Gadget, The Adventures of Paddington Bear, Johnny Test, Cake, Madeline, Ripley’s Believe It or Not and popular cartoon show Mona the Vampire.

The reasons for fitness videos being used for health & fitness information are simple, as the video format is relatively easy to follow, and any information that needs to be demonstrated (e.g. excercises), can be done as such. Most videos of this type are often avaliable on websites, especialy video sharing sites such as YouTube, the most popular source for posters and viewers alike.

Such fitness videos can be portrayed in a variety of formats, and as such will target specific audiences. This may be that the clips are ‘one-offs’, or in a dedicated series, which sometimes says alot about the nature of the video in terms of its seriousness. Also worth noting is that onine videos are typically short in length (10 minute limit), and as such will usually cover only a few, or only one, area(s) of the topic in question (Health & Fitness).

This may have an effect on the popularity of the videos, as there are obviously different interests for different people, but the nature of the video, again, may be a deciding factor for the person that watches it. It is fair to say that a majority of people would sooner watch a more exciting, humourus, and fast video that gets to the point, but those that are more serious about their health will be prepared to see someone just talking about the benefits of nutrition if they beleive that it could help them.

This may be why such videos have an effect on the way people think about their well-being, as the ones that ‘scare’ the viewer with unpleasant facts and statistics often makes the audience consider their lifestyle choices and improve themselves, which is what such videos mainly set out to achieve. It is good that there are videos that can do this, as some people need the wake-up call, but overall it is important that viewers do not let dominate their thinking as to make drastic decisions.

Overall, however, there is a majority of people who watch such health and fitness videos, and may be affected by them, but maintain a normal lifestyle, and fitting in the health advice in small parts, which is probably the best combination for a pleasant lifestyle. If the videos are able to do this, then they are achieving what they set out to do, and also allowing a margian of freedom for people who want a healthy, yet happy existance. The topic is a debatable one on the basis of making people scared of their choices, but it must be emphasised that it is, all in all, their own decisions that lead to their own idea of a balanced life.

And now thanks to Youtube and CBS, you are able to watch all the Star Trek episodes in full and in high definition. CBS have put onto their Youtube channel 70 full length Star Trek episodes.

Youtube have been agressively moving away from karaoke videos and people falling over, and more into mainstream internet TV. And now have a sizeable collectiopn of Movies and TV shows available.

The CBS channel on Youtube doesnt just cater for Trekkie fans though, you can also watch other full length TV shows such as MacGyver, Jericho and Beverly Hills 90210.

The only problem is that for non US residents, the streams are unavailable to watch.
