Cartoon Dynamite For Fox

Napoleon Dynamite in cartoon form?

Fox are planning to add to their profile of animated shows, after giving the green light to two new series eyed for debut next season, with the headlines looking to be taken by Napoleon Dynamite, which will be an adaptation of the popular movie from 2004. The other series will be Allen Gregory, a show that is co-written and also executive produced by Jonah Hill, with both series to be produced by 20th Century Fox TV. Both projects had been originated as presentations.

Fans of the Napoleon Dynamite movie will be delighted to know that all of the original cast, led by Jon Heder as the titular character, are returning to provide voices to the animated versions of their original character. The show, like the film, will be based on the stories of Napoleon, an awkward high school teenager, and his collection of diverse and quirky friends in rural Idaho. The executive production team will also continue the trend of continuing from the movie, with the team consisting of film writers Jared Hess (also director), and Jerusha Hess, alongside The Simpsons veteran Mike Scully.

Meanwhile, Allen Gregory is based on the title character being known as the world’s most celebrated 7-year-old, who has to take on the greatest challenge of his young life: to attend a regular school with regular kids. Executive producers for this show are Jonah Hill, Andrew Mogel, Jarrad Paul (all also co-writers), Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope.

The episode orders are set to be for 6 episodes of Napoleon Dynamite, and 7 of Allen Gregory, the production schedule for each taking part in one half of the production season, meaning that Fox have effectively picked up a 13-episode season, but with a different show on either side.
