Cablecom Launch Catch Up TV Online Service

Cablecom the biggest cable company in Switzerland have introduced a catch up tv service. The service has been launched in partnership with public broadcaster Schweizer Fernsehen. The new service for Cablecom’s digital TV customers based within the Zurich metropolitan area.

cablecom Cablecom Launch Catch Up TV Online ServiceThe new catch-up TV service will allow homes that have a digital cable connection watch all Schweizer Fernsehen productions on demand for no extra costs. The content will be available for around a week after being aired on TV and can be watched as often as desired.

The new TV on demand service is a new addition to Cablecom’s video on demand service (VoD) offering on demand movies launched in Zurich in May. The VoD service is expected to be available throughout the whole of Switzerland during 2010.

Cablecom’s managing director Eric Tveter said:- “Today’s linear television, bound to fixed transmission times, will increasingly merge with television on demand. With this service, we offer our customers the ability to see programmes when they want. That’s one of the most important innovations of digital television.”

Schweizer Fernsehen television director Ueli Haldimann said:- “Who hasn’t missed an SF programme without setting the recorder to tape it at one time? With ‘TV on demand’ it is now possible for the first time to enjoy missed programmes in the usual television quality.”

Lets face it guys catch up tv in Switzerland can mean only one thing. The concept has made it and is becoming accepted worldwide.
