Brucie In Strictly Retirement?
Evergreen TV presenter Bruce Forsyth is said to be stepping down from his role as co-host on hit British show Strictly Come Dancing (the inspiration for US series Dancing With The Stars), in time for a new male presenter to be found for next year’s series.
The 82-year-old entertainer, who has been on British screens since 1957, was reportedly exhausted by the final of Strictly on Saturday night, with some viewers complaining that he messed up his lines and occasionally appeared confused while on-air.
He had already relinquished his role on the regular Sunday night results shows each week, and with age seeming to catch up with the veteran, who is said to attribute daily half-hour sessions of yoga to his admirable level of fitness for his age, with insiders for the show reckoning that it is not too long before he retires completely.
A source for Strictly broadcaster BBC said of the developments: “Bruce has had an amazing time, but the strain is starting to show. He fell over a few of his autocue lines during the final and was a bit crabby during his half-time song. Everyone expects him to retire now the final is done and nobody would blame him for wanting to put his feet up.”
In a TV career that currently spans at 53 years, Forsyth, has been the frontman for several of the UK’s most famous shows over the years (with his famous audience-interactive catchphrase “Nice to see you, to see you… [Nice!]” ), with self-titled game shows such as The Price Is Right, The Generation Game, and Play Your Cards Right.
