Boxee To Launch Internet TV Set-Top Box In November
Amongst all the headlines and fanfare around the new Apple TV box and Google’s venture into the tv market, software start up company Boxee are to launch the eagerly awaited set-top box by November. Putting it in direct competition with it’s massively bigger rivals.
Boxee first announced it’s DLink-manufactured box in December last year, and is now available for pre-order in many Countries including the US, Canada, Australia, and across Europe including the UK, France, Germany and Italy.
The Boxee Box will incorporate an Intel Atom CE4100 processor, which is also said to be used in Google TV hardware. It will also come with a keyboard/remote control hybrid also similar to the input device of Google TV.
Boxee allows access to a library of free and paid content available from the web as well as access to your own digital content and social media networks including channels Netflix, MLB.TV, Comedy Central, CNN, Comedy Central, Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, Flickr and Picasa amongst others in a tv listings style mixed with social networking. And unlike rival Apple TV, the new device will allow streaming in 1080p HD high definition.
