If you go down to the CES show today, you will notice a growing trend. Blu-ray dvd players are becoming more than just a snazzy looking HD DVD player. They are becoming a platform for IPTV, internet tv services. The show has had announcements from many big companies commiting to the Blu-ray cause. DivX showed off its new DivX TV platform at the show which will bring Internet content to your tv via a Blu-ray player. Vudu have announced a deal with CE makers that will involve embedding the company’s app on various Blu-ray players, and LA based Dreamer Corp says its new BluTV service that could become an online content portal for any BD-Live compatible player.

Dreamer have debuted its Blu-ray powered IPTV concept Blu-TV.  The concept is simple, once their software is loaded it turns any BD-Live capable Blu-ray player (such as PS3) into a video and interactive content gateway anyone can develop apps for. Existing owners can obtain the service by updating the firmware in their player. BluTV currently has available 20 games such as chess, and a selection of different widgets.
