Blockbuster Woo Netflix DVD Customers With Better Deal
It is a funny old world we live in when a former bankrupt DVD rental company can give Netflix a bloody nose. But that is happening as Blockbuster hoover up disgruntled Netflix customers by offering a better rental deal.
Earlier in the week, Netflix seperated its streaming and DVD rental deals, telling customers to pay seperately for each. The existing $9.99 monthly deal shot up by 60% overnight.
Blockbuster who were saved from going under by new owners Dish Network, are offering Netflix customers a $9.99 monthly deal (usually $11.99), for a DVD one out at a time plan. Does not sound too special does it? But the Blockbuster deal also offers unlimited in store DVD trade-ins and game rentals.
To qualify for the deal, Netflix users need to bring in proof in the form of part of the red envelope. Blockbuster are not hiding their delight in the Netflix price increase which they see as “a gift.” Chief marketing officer of Blockbuster, Kevin Lewis said:- “We don’t get handed this kind of price increase, it’s a very important thing for us, and we’re seeing a lot of interest.”
