Jericho, the post-apocalyptic show that originally aired on CBS before being despatched to the nuclear wasteland, may be revived by online streaming company Netflix according to reports.
Netflix who are making a habit of reviving dead shows, and are in the process of making new episodes of cult TV show Arrested Development, are said to be interested in reviving Jericho and are said to be talking to CBS about the possibility acording to TV Guide.
The show was a popular series that ran between 2006 to 2008, and told the story of a group of families in a rural town having to survive in a post apoocalyptic world after America was struck by nuclear bombs in 23 major cities.
Although it was a cult favorite, the ratings were not so great and suffered the same fate as Arrested Development. Although a six part comic book called, “Jericho Season 3: Civil War,” was issued, and a new comic book is due this summer to carry on with the fourth season storyline.
After the show was cancelled, fans of the show campaigned to get the show re-booted, with no luck. Netflix and CBS are declining to comment and it’s not known if the original cast would be returning.
Netflix have begun a strategy of both creating original content and reviving cancelled shows, so this news could be a goer. But before any Jericho fans get too excited, Netflix were rumored to be reviving Prehistoric Fox show, Terra Nova until they changed their minds.
