It’s official. Apple are now the top brand name in the world, overtaking Google for the top spot. The trendy electronics giant of iPad and iPhone fame, has also become the most valuable brand across the globe according to a new study.

The study by Millward Brown Optimor, called the annual BrandZ report showed that Apple’s revenue rose 84% in the year to a mind boggling $153.3 billion. On the flips ide, Google which had led the charts for 4 years, fell 2% to $111.5 billion.

The reason for Apples rise is obvious. It makes the coolest gadgets out there. From the iPad, iPod and iPhone, to Apple TV and it’s gazillion apps. The big factor though is that all apps and media are transferable between devices. Much like Google are trying to achieve with Android.

In 3rd, 4th and 5th positions came IBM, McDonald’s and Coca Cola.
