Andrew Wilkow who is a famous personality from Sirius XM Radio will star in Glenn Beck’s GBTV online TV network. The new show featuring himself was reported by the two parties.
Wilkow is a libertarian-conservative and calls economist F.A. Hayek and philosopher Ayn Rand as his inspiration. He will join the GBTV online network TV later in the summer and will host a one hour show.
The title for the show has not been decided yet. The Hollywood Reporter once named Andrew Wilkow as radio’s future “young guns”. However, the three hours a week show on Sirius XM will keep airing as usual on weekdays.
GBTV which was formed after Glenn Beck left Fox News, is also undergoing a brand change and will be called TheBlaze. The service will stream 35 hours of original content every week on internet when the Wilkow show begins. The show will be eighth on the GBTV network and there are more coming.
All the shows on the network like the reality show Independence USA and Liberty Treehouse which is a children’ show are promoting politically conservative values. Joel Cheatwood who is the chief content officer at TheBlaze stated that they have a no-sacred-cow approach to their programs and are looking for an audience of similar mindset. Andrew Wilkow fits the bill perfectly and they are looking for more such people.
Although GBTV doesn’t disclose their financial status, the insiders believe that they have around 300,000 subscribers who pay between $4.95 and $9.95 every month. This means that the GBTV business should generate $40 million revenue by the end of this year. Normally the GBTV network runs commercials for 8 minutes for every hour of programs.
