Amazon Looking To Take On iPad With Own Tablet Launch
After launching into their own Netflix style streaming service, it seems that the tablet PC market, led by the amazing success of iPad may be the next thing on Amazon’s hit list. Rumor’s are flying around that the ‘bookseller’ will release two Android tablet computers this year.
A tablet from Amazon makes perfect sense, as they have a ready supply of content for it. From Amazon Prime streaming movies, music, games and of course ebook sales. It seems that Amazon are looking at launching 2 different tablets making use of cloud-drive storage.
One is an entry level model rumored to be named “Coyote,” with a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip. The other using the NVIDIA mobile Kal-El quad-core chip, named “Hollywood” will be up to 5 times more powerful than the entry tablet.
Although any firm details are thin on the ground, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. When asked by Consumer Reports if we could expect a tablet product from Amazon over the next year, his response was to “stay tuned.” He was keen to stress that Kindle, their existing ebook reader was safe, “We will always be very mindful that we will want a dedicated reading device.”
The tablet PC is certainly here to stay, and i remember some critics poo, pooing the iPad! How things change.
