Amazon Fire Users Get Streaming Choice With Netflix Built-In

In an unexpected move by Amazon, they have revealed that the new Kindle Fire tablet will come with competing streaming service Netflix built in.

The new Amazon tablet that will cost $199 and is said by many to be selling at less than cost price, is expected to promote Amazon products, rentals and services. It seems a little unusual then, that they are happy to promote rival Netflix.

Amazon may of course be confident that their prime streaming service is a better deal. The Amazon prime service for $79 per year includes streaming of 10,000 movies and TV shows along with free two-day shipping on purchases from the Amazon store, compared to Netflix’s $7.99 monthly for streaming only.

Amazon revealed the news in a press release saying, “We’re excited to team up with Amazon to give what we think will be a huge community of Kindle Fire owners the opportunity experience all that Netflix has to offer. We’re certain that our members will have a great viewing experience on Kindle Fire.”

The Kindle Fire is set to launch on November 15, and will also give owners with Prime membership free access to an ebook library. The tablet is expected to be hugely popular and a real threat to the iPad.
