Viewers settling down to some Netflix watching fun, are most likely watching the content on the big screen TV, as opposed to tablets or computers says a new report.
The report titled the, “Connected Intelligence Report, Application & Convergence” by NPD Group looked at how Netflix Instant users consume their content. Although many may think that streaming works best on a tablet, users are more interested in the big screen experience it seems.
NPD looked at the 4 main ways to view Netflix which are PC/laptop, smartphone, tablet and HDTV. Of those surveyed, 40% go for the TV option to stream Netflix. Next comes the PC being used for Netflix viewing by 14% of respondents.
The trusty tablet achieved third place with 13%, and just 8% use a smartphone. It appears that size matters as the popularity seems to run parallel with screen sizes.
The results are not really surprising when you consider the vast number of ways to access Netflix on the TV. Users do not even need a newfangled Smart TV, just hook up a games console, or media player such as Apple TV or Roku.
So as novel as it is watching TV on a tablet or dinky smartphone screen, viewers will always go with size over convenience if the option is available.
Just a word of warning though, make sure you can receive Netflix HD before sitting in front of your 60 inch HDTV, as standard definition sucks on that kind of TV.
