20th Century Fox Movies Coming To Android Devices
20th Century Fox are going to bring their films to Android phones and tablets, the move allows buyers of Blu-ray version of 20th Century Fox titles, to download and play a digital copy onto their devices.
The New service reported by the FT will begin with copies of X-Men: First Class on Blu-ray disc. Users will have the option of downloading an Android device compatible version of the film. This service will first become available in Germany, UK and USA.
Other 20th Century Fox titles will also be able to download an Android-compatible copy of the film for mobile or tablet playback, according to a report by the FT on Wednesday.
The way to get the films onto a Android-compatible device, it must first be downloaded onto a computer and then transferred across when the device is connected.
Although 20th Century Fox in the past had allowed digital downloads for iTunes and Windows Media, Google’s Android platform had in the past lacked copy protection. Google has since bought Widevine in December, allowing them to securely encode and protect video streams online.
